Yoga (yin)
Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for longer periods to target deep connective tissues and promote relaxation, which can have notable benefits for mental health and stress relief.
Indexed studies indicate that practicing yin yoga can reduce anxiety levels and improve self-compassion among caregivers. It also enhances well-being in pharmacy faculty and students by decreasing plasma adrenomedullin, a marker of stress, while increasing psychological health. Additionally, this form of exercise has been linked to improvements in blood pressure control when practiced regularly.
Yoga, particularly yin yoga, connects strongly with mindfulness practices due to its emphasis on deep breathing and prolonged poses that foster mental calmness. It also relates closely to meditation, as both activities share the goal of reducing stress and enhancing overall psychological health.
While the evidence supports positive outcomes for those who practice yin yoga regularly, more extensive research is needed to fully understand its long-term benefits across diverse populations.
